Ted Brewer’s Comfort Ratio

Naval Architects and sailors love numbers and ratios. One of the numbers not cited in the Jason 35 page link is the Comfort Ratio. The Comfort Ratio for a Jason 35 is 35.4, meaning quite comfortable compared to other monohull sailboats with keels.Comfort Ratio GraphicThat is, it’s unfair to compare a Hobie 16 beach cat to a heavy cruising sailboat, which would be akin to comparing the comfort of a Honda motorcycle to a Mercedes-Benz E class sedan. It’s just a different experience.
